Overview
Out of service labels stop the next person picking up a broken drill, a damaged step or a tripping machine. Slap one on, write down the fault and your name, and the item is clearly parked until it is repaired. These do not use labels carry your own wording, so they fit a site, a workshop or a hire depot.
Who uses out of service labels
Site managers, electricians, maintenance teams, lifting inspectors and hire shops. Anyone who finds a defect and needs to flag it before walking away.
Where to put a do not use label
On the body of a power tool, the control panel of a hoist, the door of a tripped machine, a cracked socket outlet or the handrail of a damaged scaffold tower. Pick a flat spot near the switch or handle so it cannot be missed.
Out of service label sizes
Both sizes are large on purpose; a warning needs space.
| Option | What it means | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 96mm x 68mm | Large label | Power tools, small machines |
| 110mm x 75mm | Our biggest size | Plant, panels, doors |
| Waterproof polypropylene | Matt laminated, indoor and outdoor | Site kit left out in the weather |
| Matt paper | Indoor, easy to write on | Workshops, offices, kitchens |
| Gloss paper | Shiny, indoor | Fixed printed notices |
What to write on them
Lines for the fault found, date, reported by and a contact, plus your company name and phone number printed in.
The adhesive is permanent, so plan on the label staying until the item is repaired or scrapped.
