Personalised stickers for Christmas do the jobs a pen and a roll of tape do badly: they label gifts, seal envelopes, brand hampers and add a signed-off finish to parcels. A small circle with a name or a short greeting covers most uses, and a matt paper finish lets you add a handwritten note on top.
Where Christmas stickers earn their place
Most people think of gift tags first, but the most useful December stickers are the ones that save time on repetitive jobs. If you send forty cards, wrap twenty presents and post a dozen parcels, one sheet of printed seals does all three.
- Envelope seals. A 37mm or 51mm circle closes the flap on a card envelope and carries your family name or a two-word greeting.
- Gift tags without the string. A 76mm x 51mm rectangle with “To” and “From” printed and left blank for writing replaces fiddly paper tags.
- Hamper and jar labels. Homemade chutney, fudge or mulled wine syrup looks finished with a printed lid sticker. Use a waterproof polypropylene if the jar goes in the fridge.
- Parcel branding. Small shops sending December orders can add a seasonal seal over the tissue paper without reprinting their usual boxes.
- Party bags and place settings. A name sticker on a cracker or a glass saves writing place cards.
Design ideas that read well at small sizes
A Christmas sticker is usually seen from arm’s length, so keep the message short and the type large. Two to five words is plenty on a 51mm circle.
Greeting stickers
“Merry Christmas from the Patels”, “Season’s greetings” with a surname underneath, or a simple initial inside a wreath. Choose one decorative element and let the words breathe around it.
Handwriting-friendly tags
Print a border, a small motif and the words “To” and “From”, then leave space. Matt paper takes a ballpoint or fine felt tip cleanly; gloss can smudge until the ink dries.
Business seals
Put your logo in the centre and a seasonal line around it, such as “Wrapped with care this Christmas”. Keep your normal brand colours and add one festive accent rather than redesigning everything in red and green.
Photo stickers for family
A picture of the children or the dog on a gift seal is the sticker grandparents keep. Crop tightly to the faces so the image still reads at 64mm.
Choosing a size and shape
The shape matters less than matching the sticker to the surface it goes on. This table pairs common Christmas uses with sizes from our personalised Christmas stickers range.
| Use | Suggested size | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Card envelope seal | 37mm or 51mm circle | Covers the flap point without wrapping round the edge |
| Gift tag | 76mm x 51mm | Room for a printed design and a written name |
| Jar lid or hamper | 64mm or 88mm circle | Fits most lids and sits flat on card boxes |
| Parcel seal over tissue | 51mm circle or 60mm x 49mm oval | Holds the tissue closed and shows the logo |
| Place setting or cracker | 45mm x 45mm | Enough for a first name in a clear font |
Paper or waterproof polypropylene
Paper is the right call for cards, gift wrap and anything that stays indoors and dry. Choose matt paper if anyone will write on the sticker, and gloss paper if you want colours to look richer on wrapping.
Waterproof polypropylene, which is matt laminated, suits anything that might get damp: jars from the fridge, bottles in an ice bucket, or parcels that sit on a doorstep. It also copes with being handled more, which helps on hampers that get moved around before they are opened.
Planning quantities and timing
Work out quantities by counting the jobs, not the people. A household that sends 30 cards and wraps 25 presents needs around 60 stickers once you allow for spoils and a few spare. A small shop should count December orders from last year and add a margin for gift purchases.
Order early in the season. Each product page shows its Saver production time in working days, and December is when parcels across the country take longest to arrive, so the safest plan is to order in November and keep a spare sheet for late additions.
Artwork set-up in five steps
- Set the canvas to the exact sticker size you are ordering.
- Keep text at least 3mm inside the edge so nothing is trimmed.
- Extend background colour or pattern past the edge (bleed) so there is no white sliver after cutting.
- Use photos at their full resolution, not a screenshot from a messaging app.
- Export as a PDF or high-resolution PNG and upload it when you order.
Every upload is checked automatically before it is printed, and File check (£4.99) adds a person. If you have an idea but no design software, our artwork and design service can set the greeting and layout for you.
Beyond December
Seasonal stickers are often the first order a small business places, and the same layout adapts to other moments: a thank-you seal for January sales, a spring version for Easter hampers. If you like the format, look at small stickers for everyday seals or custom logo stickers for packaging that runs all year.
Questions
What size are personalised Christmas stickers usually?
For envelope seals a 37mm or 51mm circle is the usual choice. Gift tags work best at 76mm x 51mm, which leaves room to write a name, and jar lids suit a 64mm or 88mm circle.
Can I write on Christmas stickers?
Yes, choose matt paper. It takes ballpoint and felt tip well, so you can print “To” and “From” and fill in names by hand.
Are Christmas stickers suitable for jars that go in the fridge?
Pick waterproof polypropylene for jars, bottles and hampers that may get damp. Paper is better kept for cards and gift wrap.
Can I put a family photo on a Christmas sticker?
You can. Upload the original photo at full resolution and crop it close to the faces so it still reads clearly at sticker size.
How early should I order Christmas stickers?
Order in November if you can. Production time is shown on each product page and December delivery takes longer, so ordering early leaves room for a reprint if plans change.
