Overview

LOLER labels give a lifting inspector somewhere to record a thorough examination on the equipment itself. Once the examination is done, the label shows the date, when the next one is due, the item reference and who carried it out, so operators can check before they lift.

Who uses LOLER labels

Independent lifting inspectors, insurance engineers, plant hire firms, garages with vehicle lifts, warehouses with forklifts and care homes with patient hoists.

Where to fix a thorough examination label

On a flat panel near the controls or the rating plate: the mast of a forklift, the side of an engine crane, the pillar of a vehicle lift, the boom of a MEWP or the frame of a patient hoist. Slings and chains are too narrow for a label, so record those in your paperwork instead.
